Press Release

SAN DIEGO – April 4, 2011TV Ears, a manufacturer of doctor-recommended TV listening solutions, announced today its exclusive network of Certified Hearing Centers that will direct interested customers to hearing professionals in their neighborhood.

Participating hearing professionals receive direct referrals as well as digital displays with real-time marketing content and in-store product displays for their waiting room.

“Each year, we introduce more than 300,000 individuals to TV Ears. While our products help these people hear the television more clearly, they may need assistance with related issues, but often don’t know where to go,” said George Dennis, Founder and CEO of TV Ears. “Once a customer enlists our help, we work to make quality introductions with one of our Certified Hearing Centers based on their location. The goal is to increase business for those hearing professionals and provide them with lifelong customers.”

According to the Hearing Industry Association, U.S. hearing instrument sales, outside of the Veterans Administration, increased only by less than one percent in 2010. In an effort to drive bigger sales for its partners, TV Ears believes this exclusive network will drive more potential customers into audiologist and hearing aid offices. The total hardware for waiting rooms alone is valued at more than $2,000, more than six times the price of the monthly program fee, and includes a TV Ears TV, Media player, TV Ears Headset System, TV Ears Wireless Speaker and a ClearSounds Quattro Bluetooth Neckloop. The Hearing News Network will be the featured program on the TV Ears set, and  can be effectively used for in-house marketing and training while also acting as an information center for staff and patients. In addition, TV Ears is working on packaging affordable total hearing solution kits at very attractive price points to empower hearing professionals in their network to offer unmatched savings and value to their current customers as well as the prospects sent to them under the Certified Hearing Center program.

“Often times, our customers come to us initially not requiring a hearing aid, but in need of some assisted listening device that help them enjoy their TV viewing experience better. As they get older, however, their hearing needs change. We want to help provide those folks with the best way to find affordable, quality solutions,” said Dennis. “That’s where the Certified Hearing Centers come into play. We’re really excited about this new partnership and have already received a great deal of interest.”

Hearing Professionals can reserve their exclusive zip code as a TV Ears Certified Hearing Center to take advantage of the marketing support, special solution package pricing and direct referrals by calling 888-883-3277.

Press Release

SAN DIEGO – March 30, 2011TV Ears, a manufacturer of doctor-recommended TV listening solutions, announced today its partnership with the San Diego Senior Games Association as the title sponsor for the 2011 events.

The company made a $25,000 donation to help promote the upcoming North County Games in April and the San Diego Senior Olympics Games in September for the “50 and over” community.

“TV Ears has been searching for an organization to get involved with that promotes healthy lifestyles and the San Diego Senior Games Association couldn’t be a better fit for us,” said George Dennis, Founder and CEO of TV Ears. “It’s very important for individuals to remain active through physical fitness programs as they get older. It’s not only a good lifestyle choice, but this organization has made it possible to still have fun and be competitive after 50. We’re ecstatic to be associated with such a great cause here in San Diego and we’re looking forward to helping increase participation!”

The San Diego Senior Game Association will host the Second Annual North County Games the last two weeks in April and first two weeks in May that will include 14 sporting events. The organizations largest event, the San Diego Senior Olympics, will take place in September and offers local and visiting teams the opportunity to register for 29 different individual and team activities.  The top three winners in each five-year age bracket in every sport will win medals and each participant will receive an official Games t-shirt. The top three winners in each sport will qualify for the California Senior Olympics and the chance to compete for a spot in the National Senior Olympics to be held in Cleveland in 2013.

“We were extremely thankful by the generous donation from TV Ears and it’s evident that they have a real desire to help raise awareness and place a great emphasis on maintaining healthy lifestyles,” said Dick Enberg, Chairperson for the San Diego Senior Games. “It’s these types of partnerships that really allow our organization to thrive and get the word out. We couldn’t be more excited to have them as part of our team!”

Hearing Mojo’s Hearing Aid Comparison Chart

Hearing aids and Personal Sound Amplification Systems (PSAPs) are products we wish there wasn’t a market for. It’s true. When George Dennis, Founder and CEO of TV Ears, Inc., started TV Ears in 1998, he was looking for a solution to help his father who was developing a hearing loss. The best solution would have been that his father not lose his hearing at all, but since that wasn’t an option, Dennis created TV Ears.

“The problem was that hearing aids at the time cost thousands of dollars and there was no insurance coverage and it was very expensive. At that point, we decided to create a hearing device for the television. The concept started out as how we can solve a personal problem and grew from there,” said Dennis.

Since hearing loss is a problem that currently continues to affect more and more individuals, the best things we can do for ourselves is to continually shop for data to help us make informed decisions. Hearing Mojo recently published a hearing aid comparison chart that “gives consumers shopping for hearing aids an idea of what high-end features and functions are available from the world’s leading hearing aid brands,” David Copithorne explains.

Brands compared include Oticon Agil (William Demant Holding), Starkey Wi Series (Starkey Laboratories), Phonak Ambra (Sonova Holding), ReSound Alera (GN Store Nord), Widex Clear440 (Widex), and Siemens Motion (Siemens Hearing Instruments).

TV Ears new 3D Hearing Kits offer a fantastic value for consumers who want a total hearing solution. This value will be available at TV Ears Certified Hearing Centers. Contact TV Ears, Inc. for more information:  1-888-883-3277, Monday – Sunday, 7am – 7pm, PST.

TV Ears “Peace at Home” Contestant Wins TV Ears Professional

January 21, 2011 Leave a comment

Congratulations Clare Sloane!

TV Ears would like to thank all the contestants who entered the “Peace at Home” Winter Holiday Contest for a TV Ears Professional. This was our first contest in which contestants had to submit a short essay and we really appreciate everyone’s thoughtful responses!

Essays were voted upon by the public, which narrowed the contestants down to ten finalists. The final stage of the contest was a vote by the staff at TV Ears. After much deliberation, Clare Sloane was chosen as our winner!

Here’s how Clare answered the question, “How have TV Ears brought peace to your home or how you would like to have TV Ears bring peace to your home this holiday season?” Clare’s entry was chosen as the winner based on her generous desire to share TV Ears in order to bring peace to those around her.

Everyone should have a TV Ears, by Clare Sloane

I can’t say enough about how much I love TV Ears, and wish I could afford them for all of my family. It’s so hard to find peace when having family members who don’t hear very well staying with us, or when visiting them at their homes, because the TV is SO LOUD! TV Ears also helps those of us with fairly decent hearing when we are trying to hear a TV show while the rest of the house is sleeping. I have a family member that lives in a senior housing apartment complex, and wish the entire complex had TV Ears- just for the sake of peace and harmony among the residents. If I win this contest, I don’t know who the prize should go to in my family! I guess the senior apartment complex person, so that family member doesn’t get kicked out and have to move in with me!

Congratulations Clare! You have won a TV Ears Professional! Please check your email for more information.

3 Great Products for Parents of Boomers

January 15, 2011 2 comments

As your body ages, things change. For some this process happens quicker than for others. Fortunately, due to advances in technology, these changes (decreased hearing, mobility, memory. etc.), don’t need to determine the quality of one’s lifestyle.

Whether you are in the market to make personal changes in your lifestyle or caring for a parent that could use some assistance, we’d like to recommend the following 3 products:

1. The Archimedes Bath Lift

We like this bath lift because not only is it light weight and portable, but it allows for maximum leg room, a very important feature for anyone bathing in a small space. What else do we like about it? It looks nice! Since this bath lift is easy to clean with commercial bathroom cleaner, anyone can keep it looking nice for as long as it’s being used.

Visit Manger USA for more information, or check out the Manger Archimedes specially priced at TV Ears.

The Panasonic JZ is a great pick for any boomers' parent.

2. The Panasonic JZ Series

Available in 3 colors, the Panasonic JZ Series fits in the palm of the user‘s hand. We like it because it’s big, simple to use, and can be brought along for an outing by the user or a family member. Best of all, the JZ can be worn for hours without stress or strain for the user. The sleek style will encourage anyone in need to use it!

TV Ears proudly carries the Panasonic JZ Series. Check out our special offer here.

3. The Jitterbug Phone

The Jiggerbug is the simple, easy to use cell phone made for seniors. Like the JZ, it comes in 3 great colors! Why do we like it? The Jitterbug has a powerful speaker that delivers sound clearly, an important feature for anyone with hearing loss.
